Nintendo DS games
The part that interest the potential owners the most is, ofcourse, the
NDS compatibilty. I can tell you from my own experience, and from the
experience of other, that it is almost perfect! Currently there are NO NDS
games that won't run with G6 Lite. This is mainly because of the good
support that is given. Almost as soon as a non-working rom comes out, a
new, updated G6 Manager is created which makes the rom work. Only the NDS
Browser isn't working because of the external memory that was provided
with the original cart.
Other games
Besides GBA and NDS games the G6 Lite also has the (build-in) ability to
play a fairly amount of NES, SNES, Gameboy, Gameboy Color and Sega
Mastersystem roms. These roms can be transferred directly to the G6 Lite
cart without using the software. You can put .NES file in the EMU folder
and play them, or you can use Pocketnes on your G6 Lite (this is
recommended). Use Snezziboy
for SNES roms.
To play musci and videos on your G6 Lite you first will have to convert
them. I won't go indepth, but you simply have 2 methods to convert and
play them on G6 Lite, which both take long. Video playback on G6 Lite
isn't that great, neither is the music. You should see this features as an
extra to playing games. I recommend you to search for a M3 if you want
better video and music support on your flashcard.
Passcard Required
A con of the G6 Lite is that it requires a Passcard to run. I used
Passcard 3, which runs perfectly with the G6 Lite. Passcard are on sale
for about 15 euro's, which isn't much, but I makes the G6 Lite a more
expensive option than the one slot flashcarts.
Round up!
Positive:
+ Fits perfectly into DS Lite
+ Great NDS game menu
+ Real-time save for GBA
+ Perfect DS and GBA playback, with good support
Negative:
- Homebrew support not that good
- Converting and playing music and video on G6 Lite takes much time
- Passcard needed
